Who we are

The address of our website is: http://www.salzburgguide.info.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors write comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and user-agent string (this identifies the browser) to help detect spam.

An anonymized string (also called hash) can be created from your email address and passed to the Gravatar service to verify that you are using it. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is shared, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload photos to this website, you should avoid uploading photos with an EXIF GPS location. Visitors to this website could download photos stored on this website and extract their location information.

Cookies

If you write a comment on our website, it may be a consent to store your name, email address and website in cookies. This is a convenience feature so that when you write another comment, you don’t have to re-enter all this data. These cookies are stored for one year.

If you have an account and log on to this website, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you sign in, we will set up some cookies to store your credentials and display options. Login cookies expire after two days and cookies for the display options after one year. If you select “Stay logged in” when you sign up, your registration will be maintained for two weeks. By logging out of your account, the login cookies will be deleted.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and only refers to the post ID of the item you have just edited. The cookie expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this website may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, posts, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect information about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking services and record your interaction with such embedded content, including your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and click on the registered on this website.

Analysis services

Our website uses features of the web analytics service “Google Analytics,” which is operated by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The Google Analytics uses “cookies” – text files stored on your device. The information collected through the cookies is usually sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there. You can prevent this by setting up your browser so that cookies are not stored. We have entered into a corresponding contract with the provider for order data processing.
Your IP address is recorded, but immediately pseudonymized (e.g. by deleting the last 8 bits). As a result, only rough localization is possible.
The relationship with the web analytics provider is based on the Privacy Shield Agreement: https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of the statutory provisions of § 96 (3) TKG and Art 6 (1 lit a) and/or (legitimate interest) of the GDPR. Our concern in the sense of the GDPR (legitimate interest) is to improve our offer and our website. Since the privacy of our users is important to us, the user data is pseudonymised. User data will be kept for 26 months.

When you write a comment, it is stored indefinitely, including metadata. This way, we can automatically recognize and share follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can view, modify or delete their personal information at any time (the username cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and modify this information.

What rights do you have to your data

If you have an account on this website or have written comments, you may request an export of your personal data from us, including any information you have provided to us. In addition, you may request the deletion of all personal data that we have stored from you. This does not include the data we need to keep due to administrative, legal or security needs.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments could be investigated by an automated spam detection service.

Your rights

As a matter of principle, you have the rights to information, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, revocation and objection with respect to your data stored with us. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection claims have otherwise been violated in any way, you can complain to antje-kurz@salzburgguide.at or the Data Protection Authority by e-mail.
